| Abstract | The results we achieve when teaching programming are not good. Many Computer Science / Computer Engineering students graduate unable to program well. I suggest adoption of some new approaches, emphasising program and data design from the first day of programming teaching. These are contrasted with examples from conventional textbooks in current use. Experience, both in the author's University and elsewhere suggest that this is a fruitful path to follow |
